Pushies Galore 2013

It’s my third time attending Pushies Galore, the fun and trendy market & event for local bike lovers and enthusiasts.

Despite the winter drizzling in the morning, there were a happy vibe in the venue through the day, which made you see how much people enjoyed this annual festival!

Although I am still being too lazy to paddle through the hills & rivers to commute between work & home,

but I finally have myself a bike built this year~

Laura St Festival 2012

Once upon a time, there was a leafy hillside street hidden away from surrounding concrete jungle on south of Brisbane river.

Each year when the first warm summer breeze came, the friendly & adventurous residents lived in this street opened their backyards and verandas, made herbal tea (or something that more juicy),

invited friends around and taped their toes with tunes to celebrate local music, performing arts & the community spirits.

And I was there this year~ Had a great time and it’s definitely the most heart-filling event I have recently been to : )

Imaginary Theatre “Look”

“We arrive in a place and space unknown, and meeting in the middle we discover each other as strangers,

then as friends. Surrounded by things both strange and familiar, together we look for possibilities, conduct experiments of play, and build a world.

All on our own.”

– Introduction of “Look”

Back to March and July I shoot the poster and performance of “Look” for Imaginary Theatre.

It was a great show and the team is very pleasing to work with.

The performance aims to encourage kids to create their unique play styles and experience, which has received great response from both parents and children in Australia and overseas.

For more information please visit Imaginary Theatre webpage

Here are some of the highlight of the poster shot (special thanks to SYS Studio) and the performance documentary

Music the only thing that keeps me alive

Last sunday, the Music in the Garden moved on for a slightly bigger concert at Orleigh Park, West End. We shared the warm brisbane winter sun, world folk music by local artists and a laugh-the-lungs-out musical comedy in this wonderful Sunday afternoon.

The highlight of the event to me was meeting a passionate lady on wheelchair just enjoyed the event as much as everyone did. She wore a T-shirt with the praise” Music, the only thing that keeps me alive”. You are a ROCKER.

The next Music in the Garden will return 2:30 pm Sunday 3 June @ Rocks Riverside Park, Seventeen Mile Rocks and Sunday 10 June @ Sherwood Arboretum, Sherwood. Wish to see you there : )

We sung in the vegie gardens

Jan 2011, Brissies experienced the one of the largest flood in decades, thousands families and houses have been impacted and some of them are still slowly recovering.

Music in the garden, presented by BCC in association with Brisbane Garden Recovery, is a series of small boutique concerts held in flood-affected areas around Brisbane. It intend to draw on the healing effects which of music and celebrate renewal through gardening. The week 1 gig was kicked off last Saturday, at a private corner of Yeronga, which is one of the most damaged suburban in the 2011 flood. Helen’s property was about 2 meters under the water – the ground floor and backyard was seriously damaged. Yet with aid from the around the community, and knowledge of permanent culture, Helen’s backyard now turns into a lush and pretty-looking vegie garden.

The 1 hour concert featured Samjjana and Nicolas Ng inspirational music was full of inspiration, love & strength. Following are some of the event highlight.

I will be photographing a few more Music in the Gardens concerts happening around in May & June for BCC.

Please come to join our local gardening expert and some of the Brisbane’s elite world musician for a relaxing Sunday afternoon :)

Sunday 13 May@Orleigh Park, West End

Sunday 3 June@Rocks Riverside Park

Sunday 10 June@Sherwood Arboretum

summer snow & the festival season

back in late December (… sorry i did such a bad job updating my blog)

i photographed a series of events at King George Square for BCC creative community

hopefully you may see some of these pictures popping up around the places~

taking photos of public events are always like super deals to me.

because most of time i am just sitting in the office mucking around the AUTOCAD like a cad monkey,

but being a urban designer,  the observation of how people interpret public space is far more interesting and essential.

It just feel good : )
