misunderstood

Today our comversation’s topic is slang, or about we might misunderstand some aussie usual expression in some case. I don’t have that kind of exprience, probable I have no idea what the aussie always says. But indeed i got a story about a little stupidity once I did
 
—-There was a card for every passager arrived at Brisbane airport which need to be completed to state what were your luggage including, and told you what were prohibited to bring into Australia. While I was checking in, the immigrant official asked me: "Can you read the card by yourself?" Acturally she just wanted to know if i could understand the rules listed on the card. But I totally misunderstood, and I just tried to read the card aloud, clear and accurately… The madam was looking at me, confusedly. —-
 
How embarrassed!
